Curly Cartel Event in Beverly Hills, CA
The event was amazing!!! It was a great natural hair meet up at a posh venue -Confidential Lounge in Beverly Hills! Shee shee shee...lol
There were a lot of gone with the wind fabulous naturals that were killing it that night!
If you were ever confused on why natural is fabulous, this gathering brought clarity.
Some of the guest speakers were Dr. Kari of the Mahagony Roots Salon and MissCinnamonCake from our youtube family!
I got a chance to meet MissCinnamonCake. I think we were both shocked to find out we both live in the LA area. She was doll and her hair was so fierce. Loved it!
I was able to do an interview, but I am not sure where it will be posted or how to share it. If anyone runs into it, let me know. LOL. The sweet girl that did the interviews was super nice and was flossing with her amazing mint colored jumpsuit and mohawk puff. She even allowed me to throw out my youtube channel (Niafloda). Thanks again hun!
The swag bags included full size Kinky Curly Knot Today and the Curls Control Paste

4b 4c natural updo
I am starting to experiment more with updos and buns. I am rocking them for a week then washing and conditioning.
Updos are saving my life. I don't really have time now to manipulate and style my hair everyday. I wish I did though.
I am dying to do a twist out, but first I must detangle! LOL

Urban Twist by the Damn Salon - The take down!
Hi Everyone!
I have been in the process of taking down my urban twist. I have been taking my time and using extra caution to make sure I do not lose hair unnecessarily.
I started off using kinky curly knot today to saturate the strand and it did a pretty good job of softening my hair and the extension hair so that it will pull apart. At the root, where there is a small amount of build up, I would use the Damn Salon Oil blend to saturate the root to loosen up the lint and that was effective.
I felt like I was wasting my knot today and decided to use the Jane Carter Leave-in Revitalizing Spray since I wasn't really a fan of it (It didn't do anything bad, but I didn't feel anything magical happen with my hair). I started to spray it on the a section of the urban twist and it really did a way better job of helping me separate my hair that was locked in with the urban twist! I mean way better than the Kinky Curly Knot Today! I was impressed. I still use the Damn Salon oil blend at the roots and this has made the take down process a little faster.
So far, I have had no breakage and it appears that my hair did retain some excellent length in urban twists! If you read my last post, I was really concerned about how protective this style is since my hair is not braided into the extension hair.
The picture is showing how I am masking the take down process. I started the take down in the middle/crown of my head and using the perimeter to camouflage my chunky twists ;0)
More to come ....

Urban Twist by the Damn Salon
I got my urban twist installed on November 13, 2012 in Los Angeles by Mushiya. The hair used is a high quality synthetic hair. It is very light. However, the ends do feel a little dry and have a tendency to get tangled.
I love the versatility of the urban twists and get compliments on my hair all the time.
The price can range anywhere from $300-$600 depending on the length and density of your hair and the look you are going for. Mine were on the higher end because my hair is BSL.
I will admit that I am afraid of the take down as I have 4c natural hair tangles easily and I am afraid that my hair may have locked up with the extensions. I will keep you posted on the twist removal.
Below is a photo of my urban twists taken on November 24th and on New Years Eve .
I take care of my hair by washing with my Ayurvedic ACV mud shampoo and deep conditioning via steamer weekly. Then I use my pH balanced moisturizing leave in and seal with the Damn Salon Butter or Qhemet Biologics Aethiopika Butter. I use my moisturizing spray daily and seal with and oil or butter. I massage my scalp nightly with Super Potent Black Castor Oil.
